NAME: Jared Michael Williams.
GOES BY: Jared’s name isn’t all that easy to abbreviate; many fellow hunters usually just call him Williams, and a few old acquaintances have come to call him Jay, if only because it’s quicker.
AGE AND DOB: 31. November 8th 1987. Depending on how he presents himself, Jared can actually pass for anywhere between his late-twenties to his early-thirties.
SPECIES: Halfbreed. Jared, like the rest of his family before him, is a suspected angel halfbreed, especially since he fights for the Watch, but no one knows for sure and as such he could just as easily have demon blood in him. There’s no way of knowing.
CAREER: Hunter. Leader of the Watch.
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Cheap apartment outside the Church at Holland House.
MARITAL STATUS: Separated; Abigail Williams née Murphy.
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual.
ETHER: Jared’s Ether presence is strong and masculine, unmistakeable, the kind that makes you sit up and take notice. There’s a musk to it, leather and gunpowder with a subtle undercurrent of steel. When he connects it can either be with the force of a full, swinging punch, like a fast fist to the jaw, or almost stealthy, slipping in like smoke from the side. Usually it’s the former; he doesn’t have much use for subtlety most of the time. When he connects with Abigail, the harsh, metallic edge drops away, leaving an automatic, almost reflexive warmth instead. Jared is -- not that he has realised it for himself -- actually much more composed and steady on the Ether when connected to Abigail alone.

ABILITIES

TELEKINESIS. Jared’s halfbreed heritage gives him the ability to telekinetically manipulate and influence his surroundings, whether they be inanimate objects such as furniture or books or debris, or flesh and blood beings, regardless of what they are exactly; if it has weight and mass, he can apply his powers to it. Jared’s power relies heavily on a combination of eye contact and direction from his hands, though he can use only the former if he pushes himself and applies all his strength to the process; it’s much more likely to be fully effective if he uses both, though, and as such he tends to use both. This does mean that blinding him and incapacitating his hands in any manner will render his telekinesis useless, since he will have no way to guide objects or the ability itself. The heavier the object that Jared is trying to shift, the more it takes out of him, though he is a deeply stubborn and defiant man with a hunter’s endurance, so even if he feels a strain he won’t stop, he’ll simply power through and keep manipulating or influencing until he’s finished whatever he set out to do. If he pushes too hard, whether it be with duration or just the weight of an object, Jared will pay the price for it in blood, usually in the form of a nosebleed, the severity depending on just how much he has strained himself, but in more extreme cases he will bleed from the ears, which is usually a sign that he needs to stop and let go completely to avoid some kind of permanent damage from overexerting himself. Loss of consciousness is another possible side-effect, though truthfully it has only happened once or twice in his life and to put it bluntly, Jared is just too goddamn stubborn to black out, even if his skull doesn’t feel like it’s going to split and the world around him is spinning on its axis. The potential worst-case-scenario is for Jared to push so intensely, so recklessly, that he causes some kind of brain haemorrhage; it would take a lot to push it to that level, understandably, but given Jared’s track record for not backing down or giving up and pushing past his own limits and boundaries, it’s always a possibility.

When it comes to weight, the limit of Jared’s ability to influence is unknown. The most he has ever picked up and hurled with his telekinesis is a large truck, though that left him bleeding, dizzy and nauseated, barely able to stand on his feet. If Jared has limits it’s entirely possible he refuses to acknowledge them. The length of time he can hold an object in his grasp depends entirely on its weight and his strength and therefore physical condition at any one time. The weaker Jared is physically, the less likely he is to be able to hold a larger item like a body or a vehicle for any drawn out period of time. When it comes to living matter, Jared’s ability is obviously directly related to the stamina and struggle of whatever he has in his grip. A human, for example, would be incapable of breaking his hold, but a demon on a rampage? That’s something else entirely. The strength and will of an opponent has a direct effect on Jared’s in turn; if they resist and throw themselves against his telekinesis, it will weaken and finally break. There’s nothing he can do to stop that, no matter how stubborn he might be at any given moment.

Just how much he can manipulate at any one time depends on his concentration and physical condition. For example, if there is a lot going on and his mind is split in several different directions on top of him being wounded, Jared won’t be able to effectively influence more than one target. But if he is uninjured and completely focused with both hands free and a clear field of vision, then he can, potentially, wield his telekinesis in three different directions towards three separate targets. That drains him a lot quicker than a single target, obviously, especially if the three he picks out are animated in any way and need to be held tightly. Inanimate objects are always going to be easier than living beings, since they have no strength and momentum of their own to battle against his telekinesis.

SKILLS: Hand-to-hand combat, various weaponry (see below), high-speed driving, passable mechanic, hunting, tracking, breaking and entering, thinks on his feet, resourceful, tough, resolute, hard to bring down in a fight, pushes past pain constantly, tactical, uses his initiative, a good leader, won’t take no for an answer.
LIMITATIONS: Abigail, their daughter and mentions thereof, stubborn, arrogant, too sure of himself, won’t stay down when he’s beaten, doesn’t know when to quit, sore loser, obsessive, anger management issues, challenges.

Jared is no small individual, standing 6’3 with an undeniably muscular build that brings his weight up to an impressive 215lbs., give or take. Jared is, to put it simply, built for combat, and ensures he stays in peak condition; it shows that he works out vigorously and takes care of his body to make sure he is always at the top of his game. He’s broad shouldered, wide across the back and chest, well defined muscularly and not only strong physically but fast as well, with long legs that help him to cover distances quickly. His brown hair is almost perpetually scruffy, thick, seemingly with a life of its own; sometimes it’s spiked haphazardly and at others it’s tumbled and left that way. Jared clearly isn’t the vain type when it comes to his looks; he’s more concerned with practicality than he is with anything else. The hunter sports facial hair in the form of a beard, full sideburns and moustache with a slight goatee below his bottom lip; this makes him look his age, whereas without the facial hair he can actually pass for a man much younger, mistaken for someone in his twenties easily. His eyes are hazel though they can look green under bright lights. When it comes to his wardrobe, Jared is all about function rather than fashion; everything he owns can be worn in a fight and easily disposed of afterward. There’s no free hanging fabrics or elaborate designs; everything’s practical and expendable, right down to his boots, of which he owns several pairs, each one finished off with steel toe-caps. The only personal item with any sentimental value that Jared wears is the white gold wedding band slipped onto a chain that he wears around his neck at all times, usually under his shirts to keep it out of sight, almost as if he doesn’t want anyone to see that he hasn’t taken it off completely, despite being separated from his wife.

DISTINGUISHING MARKS: Given that Jared has been a hunter from an early age, and an enthusiastic one who won’t shy away from getting his hands dirty at that, it’s understandable that he has his fair share of war wounds that can be clearly seen whenever they’re not covered by clothing of one kind or another. There are scattered over his body, ranging in size from a few millimetres to several inches; he only has one of such a significant size, along his right side, washing over his ribs, a souvenir from a demon in Jared’s past. Like most hunters, Jared isn’t ashamed of his scars and doesn’t think anything of having them on display. He has nothing to hide. [tattoos?]

ROMANTIC

Abigail Williams née Murphy.
Even after the loss of their daughter and their subsequent separation, Jared finds he still cares about Abigail a great deal, perhaps more than he should. He fell in love with her when he was only a teenager, and they have been together in one way or another for so long that it’s entirely possible he will never be able to shut down how he feels. Jared would go to great lengths for Abigail, whatever it takes, and if it’s the last thing he does, he’ll make up for losing their daughter.

PLATONIC

Mackenzie Wilkins née Stewart.
When Mackenzie found the Vegas Watch, Jared was one of the first to introduce himself, naturally. He understands some of the pain she carries, knows what it’s like to lose a child. Perhaps that is the reason he volunteered to help with the young woman’s training after she voiced her desire to become a hunter. Jared doesn’t feel as protective of her as he does Abigail, naturally, or as responsible for her as he does Amelia, but he has taken Mackenzie under his wing all the same.

Brett Harper.
She calls him “Papa Bear”, a nickname he has quickly come to accept and even embrace. It isn’t just anyone who can win Brett’s approval and respect, and Jared prides himself on being one of the few. She’s a tough hunter, one of the gritty lifers like himself, and she automatically has his respect in return for that, but he also knows she has been through hell and back, like so many, and to come out of everything she’s endured in any semblance of whole and composed is impressive to say the least. Jared is glad to have Brett on their side, and as proud of her as he would be if he had trained her himself.

Alix Janson.
Alix falls into the same category as Brett, one of the tough lifer hunters who has never known anything else, someone who won’t stay down until they’re put down permanently, no matter how broken and bloody they are. He’s seen how strong she is, how defiant and devoted to the Watch and hunting she is, and just as he is with Brett, he’s glad to have Alix on his side. She and Brett are the kind of no-nonsense fighters the Watch really need right now, and he’s grateful for their determination and loyalty.

Jackson Webber.
When the Watch took Jackson from the Raidan, Jared was all too ready to make good use of a silver bullet, but he quickly came to realise how important the werewolf was, not necessarily to him personally or even to the Watch in any major capacity, but to Abigail. He saw his wife’s growing fondness for the tortured, haunted werewolf and it softened him towards Jackson, and pulled him back from that edge. If only for Abigail and her protective fondness, Jared would go to great lengths to protect the black wolf.

Lauren Saller.
Lauren is very much like Jackson. The fact that she willingly stepped across the line from Raidan to Watch had him equally as on edge, honestly, but she quickly proved her loyalty and on top of that, won a place in Abigail’s heart just as Jackson did. Just as with the male wolf, Jared would do his very best to protect the white female, knowing how important she is to his wife, and that, like her male counterpart, she deserves a chance with the Watch.

Anthony Everett III.
A fellow hunter using violence and the ways of the Watch to hide from the scars of the past, Tony is someone Jared trusts and relies upon in a way, someone he can turn to when he can’t look to Abigail. Not only that but Tony is one of the only people within the Watch who can keep up with Jared in training, making him an ideal sparring partner. Jared knows Tony has his demons but he trusts the older man to do his duty without letting such things get in his way.

Dylan Von Croy.
Troublesome though she may be and nothing short of a handful, Dylan is a good hunter, one of the best the Watch has to offer; she never backs down and her therianthrope blood makes her a tough opponent in any situation. Her stubbornness and tendency to snap at the slightest provocation make her difficult to predict, but Jared knows he has earned the hyena’s respect and uses that to keep her under control, believing that the Watch would be worse off without her.

Spencer Malkin.
The unstoppably-honest witch might be a little hapless and bumbling but Abigail believes in him and that is enough to convince Jared that he belongs with the Vegas Watch. Gregory’s treatment of the intellectual male makes Jared all the more determined to give Spence a chance to prove himself, and he doesn’t doubt that that time will come soon enough.

ANTAGONISTIC

Lilith.
The fight in the now-destroyed club Black Velvet left its mark on Jared; there might not be any physical scars thanks to Kevlar, quick reflexes and Abigail’s support in the confrontation, but the demon proved herself a more than worthy opponent. Jared has no idea just who she is but he knows never to underestimate her; her behaviour in combat and the ease with which she got the upper hand against him are enough of a clue as to her age and power, though honestly Jared would like nothing more than to face her again and perhaps even claim some semblance of victory the second time around.

Roxana Hollis.
She didn’t attack him when she had the chance that night in that abandoned factory, but truth be told, the little vampire unsettles Jared, which is no easy feat. There is something haunting and eerie about Roxana, and knowing that she is the same vampire who was involved in the brutal battle outside of Sanctuary that saw one of the Watch being taken and another almost killed. Jared wishes he had taken the opportunity to kill the female when he had the chance, and won’t make the same mistake again.
